A 15 years old boy hit his mother’s boyfriend, when both were in bed, intimated. Now, the boy is about to reach at 18. Under 307, he is in judicial custody.

 485  minors booked u/s 376/377/362 in 2002.

. . . They’d been imposed 376/377 IPC, and sent to Juvenile Prison until trail is over. Only few of them having resources were released on bail. Rest of them spent 12-15 months in jail even before their hearing were started in Juvenile court.

Minor Boys Charged and sent to Police Custody for 3 to 14 days, then, in judicial custody, they are waiting for either hearing or bail…
Remarks: The issue is whether we need to deal with children between 16- 18 years who are increasingly indul­ging in sexual activities in this age group through social intervention or legal intervention. Criminalising sex in this age bracket has the danger of bringing these juveniles directly in conflict with the law.
